WHO WE ARE: Formed in 1997 the Friends of the Marin City Library is a not-for-profit organization, run entirely by the efforts of its volunteer members. The Friends mission is to generate support for the Marin City Library and to build a strong link between the library and the community. The primary purpose of the group is to implement program activities at the library that will contribute to the general education and well-being of the community and to assist in obtaining financial support for library operations.

WHAT WE DO: Since its incorporation, the Friends have contributed to development of the libraryís material collections, facilities, and events programming. We continue to provide a strong Authorís Talk series for the library. The Friends have also provided financial support to the Marin City WebStars, a teen technology training program run by the library.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: The Friends of the Marin City Library staffs the County-wide Friends' used book store, The Book Place, every fifth Tuesday, and a portion of the proceeds from sales of used books on that day go to the Friends of the Marin City Library.

We also provide volunteers for the Sausalito Floating Homes Association Houseboat Tours, and the Friends of the Marin County Free Library Annual Super Book Sale.
